Proving Thevenin, Norton, and Maximum Power Transfer Theorems

In this lab we are tasked to analyze and prove Thevenin's theorem, Norton's theorem, and Maximum Power Transfer theorem. By experimentally determining Thevenin and Norton equivalents, we understand how these models simplify circuit analysis and how optimal load resistance achieves maximum power transfer.

Objectives, Learning Goals, Expected Outcomes:

  • Constructing Thevenin and Norton equivalent circuits.
  • Verifying Maximum Power Transfer theorem.
  • Experimentally determine the source resistance in non-ideal voltage sources.

We successfully analyzed and proved Thevenin, Norton, and Maximum Power Transfer theorems using lab equipment. Key takeaways include understanding the interchangeability between Thevenin and Norton models and the impact of non-ideal source resistances on circuit analysis.
